Pat Cashin (1968- July 24, 2016)

Pat Cashin was a former Ringling Brothers clown, who performed a variety of characters, at a variety of circuses, owner of the Captain Kangaroo character, and was a popular mall Santa.

Pat Cashin was a 1997 graduate of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College. Pat began his career with Hansen’s Spectacular Circus Thrill Show and became a seasoned veteran with the following:

  • Circus Spectacular
  • Circus Royale
  • the Hamid Circus
  • the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus
  • the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros Circus
  • Caesar’s Royal Roman Circus at Caesar’s Atlantic City Hotel and Casino.

He was chief “Producing Clown” with the Dingbats, a team of traveling baseball stadium clowns and holds the distinguished position of ‘Stupidvisor of Pedia-tricks and Clownocology’ of the Jersey Shore Clown Doctors program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. He has toured as both a clown and a comedy ringmaster throughout the United States.

Last walk around for Pat Cashin

Patrick Cashin, 48, of Tinton Falls, NJ – husband, father, Clown, Santa, Captain Kangaroo, and all-around comedian and entertainer, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, July 24, 2016.  He was married to Terry Cashin in full clown makeup and attire in Madison Square Garden before performing in one of many shows at the Ringling Brothers Circus.

Pat Cashin had a passion for clown history and was the founder and chief operator of clownalley.net, in addition to being a member of the Board of Directors of the International Clown Hall of Fame. With his death, Pat’s plans for reviving the Captain Kangaroo show have, of course, ended. His wife Terry is attempting to sell the copyright to the Captain Kangaroo character to someone who shares Pat’s vision.

Pat Cashin was also an actor, as seen in the famous ‘multiplying rabbits’ Visa commercial below.
