Clowning Book of the Month – October 2020 – clown books, videos, and how-did-that-get-here?
Clowning Book of the Month – October 2020 answers the question: Who’s reading what? Continuing the monthly saga of who’s purchasing what from Amazon via our humble site. As you’ve probably discovered by now, we’ve posted quite a few book and movie reviews of clown-related things on the site, most of which are available at Amazon.com. If you’re curious, here is the bestseller list from the famousclowns.org web site for last month. Books, Videos, and the “how did that show up?”
Books
- Strutter’s Complete Guide to Clown Makeup by Jim Roberts – a recurring favorite, with good reason. The best book on creating & applying your unique clown face that I’m aware of.
Videos
- Red Skelton: The “Lost” Episodes. Well, technically not “lost” or even “misplaced”. It’s a compilation of episodes of The Red Skelton Show, showcasing four of Red’s characters: punch drunk boxer Cauliflower McPugg (with Vincent Price), Freddie the Freeloader, henpecked George Appleby, and the con man San Fernando Red (with Billy Gilbert and Amanda Blake)
How did that get here?
- Some of these are fairly mundane, such as pillow cases, index cards, and tapioca pudding. Lock laces, however, I can see using with (some) clown shoes, especially since they come in several really bright colors.
- The Original 46″ Bozo 3-D Bop Bag – probably should go into its’ own category for toys, but it’s still a cheerful reminder of childhood. Rest in peace, Bozo the Clown.
- Women’s Digital Print Leggings (with a football motif). Frankly, I could see using this as part of a football or sports skit, for what it’s worth.
- Rubie’s Aquaman Movie Toddler Aquaman Costume – somebody dressed up for Halloween.
- Govee Dreamcolor Interior Car Lights, Car LED Lights – One of the more unusual things I’ve seen ordered via Amazon … and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. They’re light up LED strips for the inside of the car. They run off the car’s cigarette lighter, with a remote control or phone app to control it. Strobe light effects, etc. A nifty idea, if that’s your things.
