I really enjoyed Patrick Page’s Book of Visual Comedy, and I strongly recommend it to any clown. Bear in mind that clowning is a performing art. A clown doesn’t tell a funny joke, but acts out funny. He or she is the joke. In a nutshell, Patrick Page’s Book of Visual Comedy is simply a short book, each page describing up to 4 bits of physical comedy, some requiring a simple prop (a hat, for instance), but most don’t. Likewise, some of them require a partner, but most don’t. It’s a short book, 123 pages, with roughly half of them illustrations of the various bits. It’s a truly wonderful slapstick resource for any clown.
