Lucy Gets Involved begins with Lucille Carmichael (Lucille Ball) asleep at her desk in the bank. Her boss, Mr. Mooney (Gale Gordon) comes in and “gently” wakens her with a gong! It turns out that she’s having trouble sleeping since her TV set broke. Can Mr. Mooney borrow her the money for a new set? No! But, he generously borrows her a portable television set. Which Lucy breaks as soon as she comes home! So, now she needs to be able to afford two new televisions! What to do? Her friend Mary Jane suggests that, since she can’t sleep anyway, why not get a moonlighting job for the extra money she needs?
Mr. Burton: That’s what I get for hiring a topless waitress!
Lucy Carmichael: What do you mean, topless?
Mr. Burton: No head!
And, the kind-hearted Lucy takes the side of a teenager who’s accused of stealing & stripping cars.
