Cast: Clown 1 – Clown 1, Clown 2 – Clown 2
Props: Plastic sword, Bible
(Clown 1 enters wielding a sword around)
Clown 1: Luke, I am your father. (make the funny light saber sounds)
(Clown 2 enters carrying a Bible. Clown 1 almost hits Clown 2 with the sword)
Clown 2: Hey, be careful with that thing.
(Clown 1 stands at attention)
Clown 1: Ah, King Arthur, it is I, Sir Lancelot!
Clown 2: Would you stop clowning around.
Clown 1: I can’t stop it’s in my blood.
Clown 2: Very funny! Now put the sword away.
Clown 1: I can’t I need this to fight my battles.
Clown 2: Fight? That’s just not acceptable. Your a Christian now and Christian prefer not to be a part of such things. Now put the sword away!
Clown 1: (holding the sword in the air) One for all and all for one!
(Clown 1 starts wielding the sword around again and accidentally hits Clown 2)
Clown 2: Ouch! That hurt!
(Clown 2 grabs the sword from Clown 1)
Clown 1: Oh I’m so sorry. I really didn’t mean to hit you.
(Clown 2 looks at the sword and see the words, “Word of God” written on it)
Clown 2: What’s this?
Clown 1: It says word of God.
Clown 2: I see what it says but I don’t understand.
(Clown 1 takes it away from Clown 2 and hold it in the air)
Clown 1: It’s the sword of the spirit! The last piece of my armor of God!
Clown 2: No its not, it’s the sword of plastic!
Clown 1: Hey, don’t say that about my sword!
Clown 2: Listen this is why I was coming to see you.
Clown 1: Because you heard about my sword?
Clown 2: No I came to see you to give you this (hands him a Bible).
Clown 1: This is for me?
Clown 2: Yes I’m giving it to you.
Clown 1: Great, this will look good on my book shelf.
Clown 2: Hold on there Lancelot! I’m giving you this Bible to read and to study God’s word.
Clown 1: But why do I need to read the Bible? I already believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Clown 2: Because God’s word is alive! Now that you have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior you will want to go deeper. The more you expose yourself to his word, the more the word will expose itself to you. To know God better you must spend time hearing what He has to say. The Bible is a gift from God and His message to you.
Clown 1: Well why can’t God speak directly to me?
Clown 2: God can speak directly to your heart, but you need to know His written word so you can judge whether God is speaking to you, or if the enemy is trying to deceive you. The Bible is for your benefit. Without reading the Bible, you will not grow spiritually, and you will be more easily deceived.
Clown 1: But I have my sword, the word of God. I can defend myself!
Clown 2: The Bible is our sword. It my friend is the word of God. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” If you want to use the Sword of the Spirit, you must learn the Bible.
Clown 1: Yeah but when I wield this sword around I feel powerful.
Clown 2: Proverbs 24:5 says, “A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases his strength.”
Clown 1: I’m not winning here am I?
Clown 2: This is not a battle but without the last piece of the armor of God you will surely lose. This (hold up the Bible) is your defense!
Clown 1: I understand. I promise I will read and study my Bible. Thanks for giving it to me.
Clown 2: You’re welcome.
Clown 1: So, you want to practice using the sword?
Clown 2: Now I told you to put that away!
Clown 1: (holding up the Bible) Not that sword, this sword! The sword of the spirit.
(Clown 1 and Clown 2 walk off laughing)
