Fatty and Mabel Adrift (1916) starring Fatty Arbuckle, Mabel Normand – silent Keystone comedy where jealous Al St. John wants to ruin their honeymoon! By pushing their honeymoon cottage out to sea! Can Luke the dog come to the rescue?
Fatty and Mabel Adrift (1916) starring Fatty Arbuckle, Mabel Normand
Fatty and Mabel Adrift is a very sweet, very funny Keystone comedy. The basic story has farmhand Fatty falling in love with his employer’s daughter. And, she returns his affection. Their “courtship” is some of the funniest parts of the movie, such as when Fatty is trying to milk a cow. And he only has eyes for Mabel. So, when the cow moves and the horse takes its place, at first he doesn’t notice! And a hungry calf keeps trying to feed. Including directly from the bucket, when Fatty’s not paying attention!
However, Al St. John is the son of another farmer, who’s also in love with Mabel. But she doesn’t return his affection. And he’s very childish about it, including throwing a rock at Fatty! But that’s not the end of his villainy…
While Fatty and Mabel are off to the seashore, living in their honeymoon cabin, Al hires a gang of villains to … push it into the sea! How can they survive? Will the dog come to the rescue?
