Chop Suey & Co – Assigned to Chinatown, Policeman Harold Lloyd fights for the attention of Bebe Daniels vs Bud Jamison!
Chop Suey & Co (1919) starring Harold Lloyd, Bebe Daniels, Snub Pollard, Bud Jamison
Product Description
Harold (Lloyd), a police officer, meets Bebe (Daniels), a stage star, on a park bench while she waits for her beau, Bud (Jamison). She is unimpressed by his uniform and leaves with Bud. Harold is reassigned to a Chinatown beat (where there has been recent trouble), joining fellow officer Snub (Pollard). That evening, Bebe and Bud dine at a Chop Suey restaurant; Harold hangs around to stay near her. A back-room card game is underway with entry only by a visual password/gesture. Harold’s comical attempts to get in eventually succeed, but by then the illegal activity has been hidden.
Convinced Bebe has been taken into an opium den, he and Snub raid the place. Harold “rescues” and carries Bebe out, only for her to angrily explain that the group was simply rehearsing a scene from her new play. She and Bud then drive off.
