No, partly because I am one 🙂
But speaking more broadly, why not? Growing up, I watched Bozo the Clown on WGN-TV for years — he was a whiteface clown, who teamed up with Roy Brown (Cooky). And they weren’t scary, they were friendly, and they were fun — and they invited the audience to share in that fun.
And, I realized that “clown” doesn’t mean “make up” — many of my favorite clowns don’t wear makeup. Watch the Carol Burnett Show (rerun on MeTV at 9:00 CST weeknights) — and you realize that the entire cast are clowns. So are the Three Stooges, the Marx Brothers, and many others.
If I’m not afraid of them, I’m not afraid of clowns.
