Ring Up the Curtain (1919) starring Harold Lloyd, Bebe Daniels, ‘Snub’ Pollard
Ring Up the Curtain is an early, silent, Harold Lloyd comedy, where he becomes the impromptu stage manager for a small theater. He has to deal with his boss (Bud Jamison), the acting troupe coming to perform with the lovely Bebe Daniels and antagonist Snub Pollard. And Bebe’s snake escapes!
Clown Bits
- Harold “walking down the steps” in pantomime
- Harold’s hat – clearly using a bit of elastic string
- Folding up the “bar” and putting it away
- The running joke of the panic over Bebe’s snake

Harold Lloyd’s “glasses” character tends bar at an opera house where a traveling performance company is due to perform. The show must go on if the curtains can’t go up.
