Review
Franky, His New Mamma is a surprisingly enjoyable Harry Langdon silent comedy. There are three comedy highlights:
- Harry trying to share a bed with his father — but father’s long beard keeps getting in the way!
- Exiled to California, Harry’s a taxi cab driver. And the Mack Sennet Bathing Beauties hire him to take him to the beach. Not only don’t they pay, they steal the tires off his cab to play with in the water! That’s where Harry sees “Mamma” preparing to fleece her next “husband”.
- Mamma’s next mark has a lovely daughter, who of course falls for Harry. And in a very chaotic chase scene, they drive to the chapel to prevent the next wedding.
