The Genius – Man wasn’t meant to fly? Wilbur Wright disagrees!

The Genius is a 1 minute drama, or comedy blackout sketch, from The Red Skelton Hour episode, For Better … Or Worse Like George Appleby Got. These are a collection, of short comedy sketches, in the spirit of Vaudeville blackout skits.

Clowns: three clowns total, two pretending to be Orville and Wilbur Wright. The third clown is an individual (girlfriend, wife, reporter, etc.) that doesn’t think heavier than air flight is possible.

Props: The only essential prop is a spinning bow tie, although you could use a beanie hat with a propeller as well. Frankly, if you can find (or make) one clown size, that would be even better.

The Skit

The skit begins with clowns, either on stage or coming on stage. One is wearing the spinning necktie or propeller beanie hat. They are pretending to be Wilbur and Orville Wright. The third person comes on, telling Wilbur that man wasn’t meant to fly. But the Wright Brothers disagree! They activate the tie or propeller beanie, and pantomime being lifted off the ground!
