Clown Props - Playchute parachute

Christmas Toys for Clowns: a short list

Christmas Toys for Clowns – If you’re looking for the “perfect” toy for your favorite clown this Christmas, here’s a few thoughts that I think might fit the bill.

If you’re at all like me (and if so, my deepest sympathies), you somewhere fell in love with Abbott & Costello’s “Who’s on First?” routine. This toy recreates that classic skit, over 6 minutes long, with the voices of Bud Abbott & Lou Costello, as the toy figurines move in sync with the skit. That’s all it does, but for a true fan of Bud & Lou, that’s enough.

Clown Props - Playchute parachute

This is actually more of a prop to use in your clowning, but it’s contagious fun. For those who are wondering “what is it?” the answer is, “It’s a parachute.” No, not the jump-out-of-a-plane parachute. It’s a colorful toy parachute, about 9 feet in diameter. What do you do with it? Just like in the picture, you space children around the edge, and flip it up, and do dozens of games — run under the parachute & out again before it comes down, start a “ripple” in the chute, use it to bounce a ball up in the air (outside, please!), etc. There are umpteen uses for this, and it comes in very handy at picnics, birthday parties, etc.

Another prop – a cross between a golf putter and a fishing reel. You putt the golf ball, and then “reel” in back in via the fishing line attached to the ball. Cute for walkarounds, although you could use for skits as well (I could see a play on the “fisher of men” with this fishing pole — getting the men off the golf course, and out into the world, etc.) Or see what you can come up with for it.
