Lucy Sells Craig to Wayne Newton – Here’s Lucy, season 1 – originally aired November 25, 1968
In Lucy Sells Craig to Wayne Newton, Lucy and her family are at a performance of Wayne Newton’s. He mentions to the crowd that he needs a temporary replacement drummer for two weeks. Lucy wants Wayne Newton to hire her son Craig as a drummer for his band. Uncle Harry (Gale Gordon) takes the family to Wayne Newton’s show, to celebrate a birthday. Wayne mentions from the stage that he’s been looking for a temporary replacement drummer all week, without success. Lucy, acting like the ultimate stage mother, gets her son Craig (Desi Arnaz Jr.) an audition. And, she keeps interrupting the audition with “advice” to Wayne Newton!
But, Craig gets the job anyway. After a funny “in the round” grooming session, the family attends Craig’s first performance. And everyone gets into the act! On stage, Harry is asked if he ever wanted to perform. “Gosh, yes!” And he does a cartwheel off the stage! And Lucy, Wayne Newton, and Kim (Lucie Arnaz) perform with dancing and banjos, closing out the episode.
