Lucy’s Working Daughter [Here’s Lucy]

Lucy's Working Daughter - Luci Arnaz, Gale Gordon, and Desi Arnaz Jr. - Here's Lucy season 1

Lucy’s Working Daughter – Here’s Lucy, season 1 – originally aired December 2, 1968

In Lucy’s Working Daughter, Uncle Harry gets Kim her first job as a sales assistant. How much does tightwad Uncle Harry love his niece? So much so that he forgoes his commission! Speaking of which, in addition to her base pay, she gets commissions for every piece of clothing she sells. After unintentionally hurting Kim’s self-confidence with her advice, Lucy has a plan. Lucy figures “the more I buy, the more I save!”. So that Kim will get a commission, of course. As the old joke goes, you can go broke saving money … Momma Lucy’s funny at the dress shop, trying to push Kim forward.

Then, she joins Harry and Craig for lunch at a restaurant. There, she hears that a competitor to Kim’s dress shop is going to put on a fashion show. So, Lucy starts putting on her own fashion show at the restaurant, wearing the dress that she just bought from Kim. Later, she revisits the dress shop, where an extra-large customer starts reading Kim the riot act. The size 14 dress she bought doesn’t fit! And it must be Kim’s fault! Momma Lucy jumps in, and the lady leaves in a huff. And the manager of the shop is glad to see her go! The conclusion’s very funny, which I won’t spoil.
