When the Rolls are Buttered, a clown skit for 1 singing clown, courtesy of Steve Conley

This skit comes from Steve Conley, courtesy of the Clown Ministry group at http://groups.yahoo.com/ – a group I heartily recommend, by the way. It’s a singing skit, appropriate to 1 or 2 clowns.

Clown enters saying:
Hello everyone I’d like to sing a song for you this morning. It goes something like this,
(Tune of, When the roll is called up yonder)

When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound grab your spoon and fork
And the morning smell of breakfast fills the air;
When the eggs are over easy red-eye gravy on the pork
When the rolls are spread with butter I’ll be there
When the rolls are spread with butter,
When the rolls are spread with butter,
When the rolls are spread with butter,
When the rolls are spread with butter I’ll be there
Oh wait, that’s not right. Let me try another one,

(Tune of, Great is thy faithfulness)
Great is my new bought dress!
Great is my new bought dress!
Morning by morning new clothes I will need.
All I have needed my charge card provided;
Great is my lovely dress, it looks good on me!

Oh wait, that’s not right either. Let me try something else. I know a real good song but I don’t know if I should sing it or not. It’s about a lamb using the bathroom. I love the first part of the song though because it talks about clowns.

(Pastor or someone): What is it?
Clown: Okay, I’ll sing it..
Clown him with many clowns, the Lamb upon His throne….
(Pastor or someone) Clown, that is not right.

Clown: See I just don’t feel right singing about a lamb using the bathroom.

(Pastor or someone) Clown, the title of the song is, Crown Him with many crowns and the Lamb means Christ and throne means place of honor.

Clown: Oh, I’m sorry. I feel so embarrassed. Okay, I have a good song but I need everyone’s help. I need the girls to sing one part and the boy to sing the other. Girls, you sing: Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelujah, and the guys sing: Praise ye the lord! Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelujah, Praise ye the Lord! Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelujah, Praise ye the Lord! Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah, Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah, Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah, Praise ye the Lord! (repeat three times, with each verse getting faster)
