The turkey hat

That pretty much sums it up. It’s a “live” turkey (as opposed to a cooked turkey) that rests on top of your head.

• What’s it going to hatch?
• Where is that turkey? Have you kids seen it?

Roasted Turkey Hat

A personal favorite. In additional to professional clowning, I tend to wear this at Thanksgiving dinner. What’s funny is the annual “fight” that breaks out over which of the (now-adult) children get to wear it next.

I originally posted this for one of Thanksgiving Skit but it could be used in a Thanksgiving version of the Easter Bunny skit as well.

I would not use this in a parade, unless you’re riding. It’s a simple, inexpensive turkey costume, that won’t put up with wear and tear. You can buy a more expensive/more professional suit at a variety of places.

Inflatable Turkey

Frankly, there are a lot of ways that we could use the inflatable turkey in a clown skit, or just clowning around. Some quick ideas:

• Dropping it off the ground, dusting it off … “Nobody saw that, right?”
• Mentioning multiple times how light & fluffy the stuffing that the turkey’s stuffed with. Ending with ‘tapping’ it into the air.
• Carrying it on a platter, and having a clown collision.
• If you don’t mind destroying the prop (it sells for $7.00 at the time I’m writing this), trying to “carve” the turkey. You could literally make a skit out of this: Clown 1 forgets, destroys, etc. the thanksgiving turkey? What to do? He finds the inflatable turkey, and inflates it in front of the audience. He asks the audience, “Don’t tell on me, okay?” Clown 2 comes in dressed in apron, etc. carrying rubber carving knife & fork, ready to carve the “turkey”. The audience may, or may not, try to warn him. Either way, play with the audience … ending with either “carving” and puncturing the inflatable turkey, or Clown 1 admitting what he did. Ending in a sweet moment of forgiveness, or a chaotic chase throughout the audience.
