For those involved in clown ministry
Don’t forget that we have a couple of Christmas skits freely available at our Clown Ministry Skits
For those who clown, or are thinking about clowning:
If they don’t have a copy of Creative Clowning, go read the review or buy them now. Right now. Seriously. Are you still reading this? :o) It’s a wonderful one-volume encyclopedia of clowning, making, routines, jokes, and practical how-to information.
Do they need more clown skits (and who doesn’t)? Bonzo’s Complete Book of Clown Skits, or Everything New & Who’s Who for clown ministry skits.
On a more serious note
I’m ordering a copy of The Jester Has Lost His Jingle for my mother — she was diagnosed with inoperable cancer earlier this year, and thanks to experimental treatment (and God’s grace), she’s now in remission. I recommend this either for people who have any type of cancer, or for your children. Sounds like a weird connection? It is; read the review for more (or just order the book and see for yourself).
Also, a bittersweet comedy, well worth watching again and again, is Limelight by Charlie Chaplin. A sad, funny, poignant portrait of two entertainers, as they intersect on their way up and down.

I’ve reviewed these classic clown movies primarily for fellow clowns, so they can learn from the masters — but they’re also just plain funny. If you’re a fan of Danny Kaye, I heartily recommend The Inspector General. For Marx Brothers fans, I recommend Duck Soup for general laughter, or The Unknown Marx Brothers for behind the scenes information, from friends and family.
