The Club Election - I Love Lucy

The Club ElectionI Love Lucy episode 47, season 2, originally aired 2/16/1953

In The Club Election, Lucy and Ethel are both running for president of their women’s club. This leads to some hurt feelings between the two and some strong rivalry that pulls Ricky and Fred in as well.  To make matters worse, the vote is nearly evenly split, with only 1 vote undecided. Leaving both Ethel and Lucy going all out to court that vote!

The Club Election is available as part of the season 2 I Love Lucy DVD collection.

Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance): That’s the one!

Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz): Anything special on your mind?
Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance): Yeah. I came up to tell Lucy that the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League is meeting on Friday this week.
Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz): The Wednesday Afternoon Fine Art Leagues is meeting on Friday.
Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance): Yeah.
Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz): I thought you always met on Thursday.
Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance): Oh, no. We never met on Thursday. We usually meet on Tuesday.
Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz)o: Well, look, this is probably a very stupid question, but, eh, why couldn’t the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League meet on Wednesday?
Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance): Oh, we tried it, but nobody could make it. Wednesday afternoon isn’t a good day for club meetings.
