Hollywood Anniversary – I Love Lucy season 4 – originally aired April 4, 1955
In Hollywood, Ricky’s agent decides to play up Ricky’s status as a happily married man by placing an item in the newspapers about a star-studded anniversary party that Ricky is throwing for Lucy. He names stars that the agent knows will be out of town that weekend. This seemingly innocent publicity stunt leads to marital discord between Ricky and Lucy. Since Ricky can’t remember the date of their actual anniversary, he wires to Greenwich, Connecticut (where they were married) for a copy of their marriage license.
Finding out that Ricky doesn’t remember their anniversary date, and that the entire party is a sham, Lucy is justifiably upset. Even though Ricky has already begun setting up an actual anniversary party. Lucy refuses to attend, despite Ricky’s pleadings … Only to appear there after Ricky has left for the party. Lucy refuses Ricky’s attempts at reconciliation, until Ricky does what Ricky does best. He serenades Lucy – who remembers why she loves him after all.
Hollywood Anniversary is available as part of the I Love Lucy season 4 DVD collection.
