Lost Films of Laurel and Hardy Volume 02. A compilation of some of Laurel and Hardy’s classic short films. These are some of Laurel and Hardy’s funniest films – my personal favorite is Double Whoopee, with a short appearance by a very young Jean Harlow, although all 4 of the movies are funny. The DVD also includes 2 shorts starring Stan Laurel, “Roughest Africa” and “Lemons and Oranges” (a very funny, energetic slapstick film).
- Early to Bed – Laurel and Hardy are totally out of character, as Ollie inherits a fortune and Stanley becomes his butler, with Oliver tormenting Stanley
- Double Whoopee – Laurel and Hardy arrive at a fancy New York hotel as the new doormen, mistaken for visiting royalty. Once they set to work, they quickly offend the guests, police officer and a visiting prince …. Including ripping the back side of a dress off a young Jean Harlow! By closing a taxi door on her dress.
- Sugar Daddies – an unusual Laurel and Hardy film, in that James Finlayson has the starring role as a recent millionaire who awakes one morning to be told by his butler (Oliver Hardy) that he was married last night. Finlayson called his lawyer (Stan Laurel), and the plot takes off from there.
- Angora Love – Laurel and Hardy’s final silent film, where a goat follows Stanley home to their “no pets allowed” apartment
